Their first meeting was not an auspicious one--Patrick was using a surgery room for an extracurricular activity. Robin calmly threw the woman out and told Patrick to get dressed before handing him Jason Morgan's file.Patrick agreed to operate before he found out his father, Noah, was involved in the case. He intitally turned down the surgery but eventually performed it. He and Robin have a very acidic relationship, with a lot of banter and heavy flirting on his part. After an accidental dinner and a few other encounters, Patrick finally blackmailed Robin into an actual date.
Their date--though cut short by Noah's return from rehab--turned out well and Robin began to revise her opinion of him. However, her involvement in his father's medical problems annoyed Patrick and he lashed out at her.
His annoyance with her did not prevent him from making a beeline for her when it became apparent she would be quarantined in the hospital with everyone else and putting herself at risk. He tried to get her on the elevator (threatened to use force, actually) but Robin went to take care of a patient instead.
After the epidemic, Robin and Patrick found themselves more drawn to each other but Robin put things in a kink when she misinterpreted a conversation and thought Patrick made a bet with another doctor to sleep with her. She later apologized but Patrick made her do so in front of Carly which did not go over well with Robin.
Noah was admitted to GH with end stage liver disease. Robin covered for Patrick and says that Noah wanted the transplant and then later, she forged a signature that will allow Patrick to donate half of his liver to his father. Before the surgery, they shared a close moment and kissed. Robin saved Patrick's life during surgery.
After the surgery, Noah filed a lawsuit against the hospital which led to Robin's temporary suspension. Patrick went to defend his partiner in crime and reopened his sutures while yelling at Noah. In order to gain some leverage, Patrick refused to have the necessary operation to repair the damange unless Robin performed the procedure which would require Noah to drop the lawsuit. Noah refuses but Robin went ahead and does the operation, saving Patrick's life yet again.
After the transplant, things started to look to bright for the duo, which usually meant that disaster was around the corner. Robin's father returned and she was naturally on an edge with her temper. Patrick finally got fed up with her taking it out on him--and everyone else--and told her to just go and fix things with her father. Robin didn't want to hear that so Patrick challenged her by questioning her about their relationship. He told Robin that she doesn't go and get what she wants.
After a disasterous attempt to fix things with her father, Robin went to Patrick and decided she wanted to sleep with him to prove her father wrong--that she wasn't closed off and frigid. Patrick had no complaint but Robin had cold feet and they stopped to talk about her HIV, her fears and his issues with emotional intimacy. Robin dared him--sayingg that he would run before she did and Patrick took the dare on. They began to heat things up again but once again, tragedy struck in the form of Patrick's date. Robin was understandably upset and wanted to know if he was going to tell her. Predictably, Patrick put his ass hat back on, spouted off some offensive things and once again, it's two steps forward, five steps back for our couple.
After the shooting at the Metro Court, Patrick found Robin on the roof of the hospital and she broke down in front of him, recounting events from her violent childhood. He took her back to his room to cheer her up with corn dogs and his race car set, but things turned heated. They were about to make love when Robin made the mistake of bringing up the idea of long term. Patrick panicked and pushed her away.
After a night out with the girls, our duo seemed to be somewhat back on track as Patrick followed Robin to the Markaam Islands to save her father. Once there, Patrick flirted with Holly and generally proved himself to be useless. But it forged a bit of a bond between the two and before he returned to Port Charles to perform emergency surgery on Sam, they kissed again.
Once Robin returned from the islands, they were on the fast track to sleeping together but pages from the hospital and Robin's nosy father Robert kept interupting. Finally, on May 29, 2006, Robin and Patrick made love for the first time. They each told each other that it was no strings, no committment sex but after a scene with Carly, they broke it off as they both realized it was going places they didn't want it go.
Only a few weeks later, Patrick's father Noah set them up on a lunch date during which they admitted they missed each other and decided to try the no strings sex arrangement again. There was a brief argument about Robin receiving flowers from Nikolas but that was quickly overshadowed when Patrick was expoded to end-stage AIDs during surgery.
It forced the two to open up to each other and for Robin to examine the idea of losing someone else she loves to the disease. Patrick has tested negative for now and the odds are in his favor, but who knows what the future holds?
